Do you guys do summer internships?

In short, yes.  If you're really interested, though, please read on. We get this question a lot when chatting with college students.  It’s easy to understand why:  Your odds of landing your dream job when you graduate are greatly increased if you have internship experience on your resume.  Unfortunately, as much as we might both wish for a simple answer, we can’t give you one.  Here’s why: At Talos, we don’t subscribe to the conventional notion of a “job opening.”  We’ve found that when we make it our objective to hire a certain number of people for a certain quantity of openings within a specific schedule, we aren’t as selective as we need to be.  We want to hire the very best candidates whenever we meet them, in whatever quantity they might appear.  When we hire top notch people, they do a great job serving our clients and they become [...]

COVID-19 Update

Update: 25 March 2020: We've received several inquiries in the last couple of days regarding our status in light of the Governor's proclamation 20-25 (Stay Home - Stay Healthy).  Because nearly all of our clients are included included in the list of "Essential Critical Infrastructure Sectors" which forms the appendix to the proclamation, and because our services are essential to proper continued functioning of the associated equipment and assets, Talos will continue operations as described below in support of these clients.  We do not expect this to change. 16 March 2020: Dear Clients, Partners & Friends, A quick note to keep you informed about the status of our operations during this extraordinarily tough time. First, as always, our first priority is to “work safe.”  For Talos staff, for the coming weeks, this will mean working remotely whenever possible, practicing excellent hygiene, staying home at the first sign of illness, and [...]

Bridging Partnerships Small Business Symposium

Talos will be on hand for the Bridging Partnerships Small Business Symposium April 8th & 9th at the Three Rivers Convention Center.  This is the 16th year for the event hosted by the Hanford Small Business Council and the Tri-City Regional Chamber of Commerce. It's our first year at the event, but I'm told it's a terrific opportunity to network with local businesses both big and small, with a particular focus on government contracting work.  Fore more info, check out the event website: bridgingpartnerships.com.  We hope to see you there!

Innovation Day at Talos

The other day Talos had our 3rd or 4th "Innovation Day."  This is a day where we unleash the crew to work on and explore any technical project which is of interest to them within the parameters that it should be potentially useful to Talos or our clients.  The recent ones have focused mostly on experimenting with Rasperry Pi single board computers.  It's amazing the array of technical solutions which can be implemented using these inexpensive devices, many of which could easily be ported to industrial grade hardware.  Here are a few of the projects the guys chose to work on: Chris worked on supports for overhanging 3d printed parts. Skyler and Doug worked together on DC motor speed controller with commands via web browser / Apache. Josh worked on using the Raspberry Pi to build a wireless to wired ethernet bridge device, and Jason worked on implementing the OpENer [...]
